Your Drive: where photos go

When you sign in, Papped asks to connect your Google Drive. This is the destination for every photo your guests take.

What happens when you connect

Papped creates one folder per event in your Drive, named after the event. Photos land there as guests shoot, usually within seconds. A second folder inside it holds small thumbnails, which is what makes the gallery load quickly, and a third, "Pending review", holds video clips waiting for your approval. Approving a clip moves it out to sit beside the photos.

On a large event you can nominate a co-organizer's Drive as a backup at setup: video clips save to that Drive instead, so one account's storage never has to carry a whole conference. Photos always stay in yours. See co-organizers.

You own those folders the way you own everything else in your Drive. Rename them, move them, share them, download them, delete them. Papped does not mind and does not need to be told.

What Papped can and cannot see

Papped asks for the narrowest access Google offers, called drive.file. In plain terms:

• Papped can see and manage only the files it creates, which means the event folders and the photos inside them.
• Papped cannot see anything else in your Drive. Not your documents, not your other photos, not your folders. It has no way to look.

This is not a promise we are asking you to take on trust. It is the permission level Google enforces, and you can see it on the consent screen when you connect.

Disconnecting

You can disconnect Drive at any time from your account. Photos already delivered stay in your Drive, because they are yours. New photos have nowhere to land until you reconnect, so do this between events rather than during one.

Running out of space

Photos count against your Google account's storage like anything else. A free Google account includes 15 GB, shared with Gmail and Google Photos.

A typical event is comfortably inside that. If you are running something large, or your Drive is already close to full, check your free space before the event rather than during it: a Drive that fills up mid-event cannot accept photos, and those moments cannot be re-shot.

Common questions

Can guests see my Drive? No. Guests never touch Drive at all. They see photos through the shared gallery, which Papped serves; the files themselves stay in your account.

What if I delete a photo from Drive? It disappears from the gallery too. Drive is the source of truth.

Can a co-organizer connect their Drive instead? No. An event has exactly one Drive: the owner's. Co-organizers help you run the event but photos always land in your account.
